Best Laid Plans Don’t Always Work Out Or Do They?

The best-laid plans don’t always work out, and that is certainly what happened to Jim and I. We had really wanted to get on our Road King and take some pictures and video over the weekend, but I guess the Universe had other plans. That’s what always seems to occur when you try to plan every minute of your weekend.

When we got up in the morning, we certainly weren’t greeted with a warm and sunny day. The forecast called for clear skies, but it was raining. To make matters worse, I had to go to our Sears store to work because one of our employees called in sick. We finally hit the road later that afternoon, and by then the skies were clear and it had warmed up a bit.

We rode to Pacific, Mo., as we wanted to visit our favorite coffee bar, but found out that it had closed. However, in its place was a new establishment called the, “Brewhaus.” We have always loved the building, which features incredible old architecture; in fact, it used to house the old, “New Opera House.” The restaurant was upstairs in the conference room, and features a fantastic backdrop from the 1904 St. Louis Fair. We felt a bit hungry so decided to order some pub chips. They were served with homemade BBQ sauce on the side. We weren’t sure what to expect and were not very thrilled with the idea until we tried them. Incredible is all I can say. The pub chips were crunchy on the outside and just right on the inside and the sauce was out of this world. They were not too sweet with just a touch of heat.

We would have liked to stay a bit longer, but the sky started to cloud up again and the temperature was dropping fast so we jumped back on the Road King and headed home.

What started out as a day that we thought we would rather forget turned into a fabulous outing that we will definitely remember. It’s funny, that’s what always seems to happen in, “Travels with Harley.”
