The Pig Trail

The Pig Trail is 19 miles of curves, twisties, and beautiful scenery with waterfalls, the Ozark National Forest, and mountain views. The short trip is perfect for a day or weekend ride and of course, spring motorcycle rides. The Pig Trail is one of the best rides in Arkansas and was used by the Confederate and Union soldiers during the Civil War. Be sure and stop for breakfast at the Farmers Table Café for locally sourced and organic eats.

The Tunnel of Trees

Located in Michigan, the Tunnel of Trees is one of the most beautiful and scenic spring motorcycle rides that you will not want to miss. Unlike mountain tunnels, the Tunnel of Trees covers the road with a beautiful canopy that is stunning during fall and spring. You’ll drive through forests and small towns before making your way to the coast. Stop for a bite to eat at Stafford’s Pier Restaurant or have a sandwich at Gurney’s Bottle Shop in Harbor Springs, which is known for their home baked bread and tasty ingredients. Bring some cash, as the bottle shop doesn’t take cards.

Twisty Road

If you’re looking for long spring motorcycle roads, the Twisty Road is for you. Starting out in Redbluff, CA, the 2-hour 140-mile stretch of Highway 36 is full of twists and turns that take you to Fortuna, CA. There is little to no reception, so make sure you are prepared. The roller coaster ride has some great views through the redwoods, but keep your eyes on the road as cows frequent the Twisty Road as well. Once you get to Fortuna, stop for lunch or dinner at the Eel River Brewing Company for a smoked pulled pork sandwich with a side of Mac and cheese.

Going to the Sun Road

This 50-mile road trip starts out in St. Mary, MT and takes you through the Glacier National Park. During the spring, you will see some of the most beautiful wildflowers on the planet. The road is steep and curvy with meadows, streams and even mountain goats, elk and deer meeting you at every twist and turn. There are lots of hiking trails and places where you can enjoy a picnic. If you have time, you may want to check out the House of Mystery on Highway 2.

PCH Carmel to Morro Bay-California

If you follow our Travels with Harley blog, you will know that I grew up in California, but it wasn’t until I met Jim that I got to experience its beauty on the back of a Road King.

The Big Sur section of blacktop on Pacific Highway is some of the most majestic in the world. Not only can you drive through the massive redwood forest, but you will also be entertained with enough curves to keep you happy from the beginning to the end. The crashing surf and frequent turnouts make the PCH Carmel to Morro Bay one of the best spring motorcycle rides on the planet.

Peak to Peak-Colorado

The Peak-to-Peak Highway isn’t even 61 miles long, but the road offers amazing scenery and some sensational curves and twisties. When you begin your crest into Continental Drive, you will be cruising through the center of the Rocky Mountain National Park. With switchbacks amongst the thick forests, you will not believe the palette of colors from the wildflowers. You can hike or have a picnic and don’t forget to take your GoPro, as there are plenty of elk and moose along the ride.

Beartooth Highway-Wyoming and Montana

This 68-mile stretch of road along Highway 212 has plenty of switchbacks and hairpins. Stay in Red Lodge in Montana before jumping on your Harley for a fantastic roller coaster motorcycle ride through to the Beartooth Pass in Wyoming.

As you zigzag through the Shoshone and Custer National Forests, you will be met with gorgeous alpine meadows that you will not want to miss. The ride ends in Cooke City, which is the Northern gateway to the Yellowstone National Park. Just make sure that you check before you head out as the Pass is normally closed because of snow from October to May.
